I originally bought this to measure a spark plug gapping tool. I measured the gap tool and the gap tool was off from the marks. I set the digital caliper to 0.028" and locked it in place, marked the spot on the gapping tool, and then adjusted the spark plugs. As you can see in the photo the gapping tool marks are off from the caliper. I trust the measurement from the caliper much more than the gapping tool.
